Treats from the Sea- Voya Review

The market for organic and natural products is growing all the time- people don’t want to fill themselves full of chemicals anymore and want  luxury prodcuts with an organic twist.
Voya, an Irish based company specialising in seaweed beauty products has targeted this market for some time. Their products are salon standard, and availabale in many spas throughout Ireland as well as online at Voya.ie. Based in Strandhill , Sligo, they harvest organic Atlantic seaweed for use in body lotions, facial care products, bath foams and hair products. Voya sent us two hair care products to try out- the Forget me Knot conditioner (200 ml size ) it retails at 20euro. The Silky by nature shampoo (200ml) comes in at 18 euro. Ok, its pricier than your average supermarket or pharmacy brand, but having tried it, it is a luxe treat.  The shampoo contains basil , lime and almond oils, as well as seaweed and patchouli, so it smells lovely-a fresh, clean scent. It claims to add body to your hair, I have quite thick hair, so wouldn’t need much help on this front!

Voya recommend using the Forget me Knot conditioner as a mask treatment, by wrapping the conditioned hair in a warm towel for 15 minutes to allow the product to pentrate and deep condition split ends etc. Being in a rush I kept it on for 5 minutes(minus the towel). Again this has clove oil, basil and lime scents in it, and I really felt it got to work in a short time. However you do need to rinse  rinse rinse afterward! It could be a case of me using a bit too much product, often with higher end products, a little is all thats needed for the same effect as ‘cheaper'(and I don’t mean that in a bad way!) buys. Comparing it to my Joico intensive conditioner, i preffered the V

oya product. It is a little pricey, but the bottles are big, and will last you a long time, as long as you give your hair a cold rinse at the end of your shower I think it’d be suitable for most hair types.

Two days later my hair still smells nice, I appear to have less flyaways afterwards(I didn’t straighten my hair at all after using Voya , just dried with the hairdryer) and its pretty shiny. I will use it again, and try the conditioner as a deep treating mask on my holidays after the pool and saltwater wreak havoc with my tresses! 8/10 for me.
