The key to good but stylish winter dressing is layers- namely base layers. Nobody is going to see these layers so make em toasty, and not bulky, the Michelin man is no ones icon !
Penneys have great cheap but effect thermal camisoles, vests and long sleeve tops. These are great at keeping heat in and being undetectable under your outfits. Cable knit tights and leggings add style, a cute factor and warmth. Try Tk Maxx for ski/snowtubes, which are funky ski socks that are extra thick, cosy and great for boots. Likewise, TK maxx have a great selection of knitted legwarmers for wearing over tights and jeans.
One of my favourite winter outfits is thick wool or fleece lined tights, ankle boots , a long top and a cute dress layered over it. Add a cute beanie or beret and a big scarf(penneys again recessionistas) and a belt.
Longer Tunics with ribbed tops or shirts worn underneath add warmth and contrast to skinny jeans. Every shop seems to be selling patterned Fair Isle mittens and hats, accesories like those brighten up any outfit.
Aran cardies aren’t just worn by mad hairy men in dark underground Gaeilge clubs in Harcourt St you know- rock an oversized one with a skinny belt, tights and cute skirt or shorts if you are brave! Rainbow coloured knits are in demand in River Island and New Look right now.
Proper outdoor biker boots that have a good gripped sole will keep the wind rain and snow out, while ensuring you don’t go flying on slippy ground- Uggs look and feel cosy but are absolutely desperate at keeping a good grip- believe me i found out to my embarrasment last year!
Here are some nice affordable ideas from Asos, which has a sale on at the moment- have a look and let us know your winter warmer tips!
